Growing up, my parents repeatedly gave me the same instructions: Remember who you are and what you stand for. This was our family’s mantra and it was recited before every major event, milestone, or morning before school. It played such a role in my own personal formation that my parents had the letters RWYAAWYSF engraved on the inside of my class ring.
But I was pondering this week, and the thought hit me, “We should add one more thing… Remember where you came from.” I live in Austin now – the city that likes to keep things weird, but I’m from a 300+ acre ranch just outside of Garrison, TX. This picture is one my dad took of the entrance to our ranch. This is where I’m from.
