Norman Family Update: Moving on without actually moving anywhere

This week, I received my acceptance letter into the PhD program at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. (I graduate with an MDiv in Biblical Languages and Preaching in May.) I’ll be studying systematic theology and minoring in preaching. Krista and I have been praying that God would make his will for our family clear, and I have sought godly counsel from several respected friends. Our family is convinced that God has called us to this task.

That means that I will continue in my position at Southwestern Seminary as the editorial assistant and book review editor for the Journal of Theology and the assistant to the Center for Theological Research in Fort Worth. In some ways, it’s difficult not to envy friends moving on to the service to which God is calling them (some to the ends of the earth) while we stay put. And yet, a peaceful calm has settled upon our family, because we know that we’re continuing on the path that God has so graciously laid out before us.

We’re thankful for your support and prayers as we step into this next chapter of our lives.
