When I first stepped into ministry, I had a lot of perceived expectations about what I was entering into. I had a sense that I would likely be a nomad, as my experience of most pastors was that they usually moved on from town to town fairly consistently over the first 15 years or so of ministry. I had a general understanding of the fishbowl that my family would be living in, under the watchful eye of a church and – should God bring our church to prominence – of a city. I had already experienced the expectation that an entire church typically has of having a strong relationship with their pastor.
But to be honest, I was entirely unprepared for the opposition I would face.
